All Saints: Mozart Requiem

Four incredible international soloists—all familiar to Twin Cities audiences—and a full orchestra join the National Lutheran Choir for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s timeless and colossal Requiem. Presented in the context of our annual All Saints program, the 12 movements of the Requiem Mass lend a unique setting to the reading of names in remembrance of the faithful departed. Don’t miss this powerful opening to the season!

A Pre-Concert Lecture will take place one hour prior to each performance. Rev. Arthur Halbardier will share the history of Mozart’s Requiem, and the mystery and deception that has lived alongside Mozart’s final composition for 200 years.

We sing because there is so much to sing about, and singing is the deepest way to embody the sacred story we share. We sing hymns of praise, psalms of unity and adoration, laments of sorrow, refrains of joy, and more. Join the National Lutheran Choir for a varied program of music ranging from Felix Mendelssohn’s Psalm 100 (Jauchzet dem Herrn) to brand new music by NYC’s Kenneth Dake, an arrangement of “Sweet Hour of Prayer”. All will be invited to join in the singing of hymns – one of the great treasures of the church.

Spring Concert: Light and Dark

So often a shroud of darkness forms around those living under an iron fist, but music is the light that flickers, maintains, and grows despite the circumstances. Light and Dark explores the music of equatorial regions and the dark north of Europe. Influenced by each culture’s unique climate– where cold night breeds mystery and the warm sun imbues a particular colorfulness– music fills the role of storytelling in a unique and fascinating way.
