General Audition Information

Our audition process is meant to identify singers who: are good fit for the National Lutheran Choir musically and technically; who are able to fully commit to the schedule; who demonstrate a commitment to the highest musical standards. Making music with us is a fun and rewarding experience; however, being an National Lutheran Choir member requires hard work, high expectations, and commitment.

Sign-ups for 2019-2020 auditions will begin April 1. A full detailed schedule for the season will be available at that time.
General Audition Information:
Audition Dates: May 16 + 18, 2019
Call-back Auditions: May 21, 2019
Audition Location: Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Avenue South, Minneapolis 55407
Below is an outline of what a typical season schedule includes.
Weekly rehearsals
Tuesday evenings from 7-10pm (September through early May)
Full Concert Series
All Saints Concerts: 2 performances in early November
Christmas Festival: 3 performances in December Note: Three rehearsals are held (Mon, Tue, Thur) prior to this concert series
Winter Concerts: 1-2 performances in February or March
Spring Concerts: 1-2 performances in April or May
Tour
A brief tour, usually scheduled for Thursday-Saturday/Sunday in February or March
Other Required Activities
All day choral retreat (a Saturday in September)
Choral Tune-Up (half day, Saturday, in January)
Annual Gala (usually in April)
Additional information
No fees are due from singers
Singers are volunteers (no paid positions beyond section leaders)
The National Lutheran Choir provides singers with a robe
Touring travel expenses for singers are paid by the organization
