Audition for the 2025-2026 Season
The National Lutheran Choir roster is made up of volunteer singers from all walks of life with a wide range of ages, occupations, family situations, and musical experiences.
Auditioning for the NLC is a multi-step process used to select the best singers for NLC’s needs and community at the time of auditions. All singers audition each year. Auditions are held in person at Normandale Lutheran Church in Edina, MN.
Reasonable accommodations will be made to ensure that anyone can audition and that those invited to the roster can fully participate.
2025 Auditions will be held the following dates & times:
4pm to 8pm - Monday, April 28
4pm to 8pm - Friday, May 2
9am to 12pm - Saturday, May 3
1pm to 3pm - Saturday, May 3
4pm to 8pm - Monday, May 5
- Additional individual audition dates beyond those listed may be considered on a case-by-case basis. This includes those who live 100+ miles from the Twin Cities and are not able to attend the audition in-person.

STEP 1: Review the NLC Schedule
Please review our schedule for the 2025-2026 season before auditioning, and be prepared to identify any known conflicts when you arrive for your audition.
STEP 2: Audition
Those invited to audition should prepare for the following:
A Prepared Piece - Sing a prepared art song, or other sacred or secular solo. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring an extra copy of your music.
Vocal Exercises & Sight Singing - The Artistic Director will lead you through various vocal exercises to assess your vocal range, color and flexibility, sight reading ability, the ability to vary dynamic and style, and general musicality.
The audition will be approximately 10-15 minutes in length.
Audition Location: Normandale Lutheran Church (6100 Normandale Rd., Edina, MN 55436) - Entrances are located on both the east and west sides of the building. Accessible parking spaces and elevators are available.

STEP 3: Invitation to Join the National Lutheran Choir for the 2025-2026 Season
Audition candidates will will receive an email message by June 1 notifying them if they are being invited to the choir roster.
Singers who are invited to join the National Lutheran Choir will co-sign a covenant with the Artistic Director. The letter states that you will commit to the schedule of rehearsals and performances and clarifies any known conflicts to which the Artistic Director and you have previously agreed.
