Early Lutheran Masters
In March 2017, the Choir recorded a new album of rarely heard masterworks by Reformation-influenced composers. This album showcases the National Lutheran Choir with Baroque-period instruments and soloists interpreting J.S. Bach’s passionate Cantata #80—based on Martin Luther’s hymn A Mighty Fortress—and works by other early Lutheran masters Johann Walter, Michael Praetorius, Johannes Eccard, Melchior Franck, Herman Schein, and Heinrich Schütz. This album is a must-have for any Renaissance and Baroque choral fan, and a fantastic album to add to your collection.
