Historical Highlights, 1986-2016
 
2016
January: Over 600 individuals attend the Choral TuneUp with Dr. Rene Clausen.
February: Regional tour to Concordia University Wisconsin (Mequon, WI), Trinity Lutheran Church (Peoria, IL) and First United Methodist Church (Ames, IA); local winter concerts, titled "Psalms & Spirituals," held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church (Apple Valley, MN) and St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church (Plymouth, MN).
March: National Lutheran Choir presents a hymn festival at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd to celebrate their newly remodeled sanctuary and organ; National Lutheran Choir's recording of Gretchaninoff's "Passion Week" (2015) broadcast on Classical Minnesota Public Radio.
April-May: 30th Anniversary Gala at the DoubleTree Hilton in Bloomington. Over 600 attended the Gala, which exceeded its net goal of $96,000.
The Spring concerts, "The Minnesota Tradition," were held at St. John's Lutheran Church (Northfield, MN) and Central Lutheran Church (Minneapolis, MN). The concert at Central was streamed online - LIVE - to over 460 viewers around the world. A special 30th anniversary alumni dinner event was also held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church (Minneapolis, MN).
 
2015
January: Choral TuneUp with Anton Armstrong at St. Michael's Lutheran Church (Bloomington, MN)
February 19-22: Arizona Tour (Mesa, Prescott, Sun City & Scottsdale)
February-March: "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" program at Zion Lutheran (Anoka, MN) and Woodlake Lutheran (Richfield, MN)
April: Over $100,000 earned at the Gala, "Telling the Story," at the Hilton DoubleTree (Bloomington, MN)
April-May: Gretchaninoff's Passion Week performed at the Basilica of Saint Mary (Minneapolis, MN) - which MPR recorded for future broadcast - and Zumbro Lutheran Church (Rochester, MN)
June: Members of the National Lutheran Choir perform at "Harmony in the Park" presented by Classical Minnesota Public Radio
August: Release of 30th recording, The Caged Bird Sings, funded entirely by donors through Indiegogo, an online crowdfunding platform.
September: The National Lutheran Choir presents a hymn festival at Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota's 150th Anniversary Celebration.
November: All Saints concerts at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (Mahtomedi, MN) and St. Bartholomew's Catholic Faith Community (Wayzata, MN), including a commission, "I Lift Up My Eyes" by David Cherwien, from David Salmi for the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Choir (Minneapolis, MN)
December: Choir performs Christmas Festival concerts at the Basilica of Saint Mary (Minneapolis, MN) and First Presbyterian Church (Kirkwood, MO), including new works by David Conte and Dale Warland.
 
2014
January: Choral TuneUp with Dr. James Rodde (Iowa State University) at Roseville Lutheran Church (Roseville, MN)
​February: City-Wide Hymn Festival with hundreds of regional church choir members at Central Lutheran Church (Minneapolis, MN)
February 27 - March 1: Regional tour to Dixon IL, Grand Rapids, MI and Winona, MN
April: Annual Gala with 500+ guests at Earle Brown Heritage Center (Brooklyn Park, MN)
May: Spring Concert featuring a world premiere and commission by Zachary Wadsworth with organist Aaron David Miller at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (Mahtomedi, MN)
May: Perform at opening event for the National Homiletics Conference with renowned Minnesota author/playwright/storyteller, Kevin Kling - Central Lutheran Church (Minneapolis, MN)
October: Release of new choir and organ album, Exalt 
November: All Saints concerts at Normandale Lutheran Church (Edina) and St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (Mahtomedi, MN), including a commission by Tim Schmidt (NLC member) "Hope and Quietly Wait" by Paul John Rudoi and Thad Fiscella
December: Record-breaking audiences at Christmas Festival concerts at Basilica of Saint Mary (Minneapolis) and Christ Church Cathedral (St. Louis, MO) including a performance of "The Word was Made Flesh," a new work by NLC artistic director, David Cherwien.
 
2013
January: Choir TuneUp with Dr. Gregory Aune (Gustavus Adolphus College) at St Michael's Lutheran Church (Bloomington MN)
March: Performance and live broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio of Bach's Mass in b minor at Central Lutheran Church (Minneapolis)
April: Annual Gala "We Shall Have a Song" featuring Mert Stommen and the Augsburg College Gospel Quartet tradition at Earle Brown Heritage Center
May: World premiere of the commissioned work With High Delight by Paul D. Weber and a performance of the Raabe Prize-winning composition, Nada Te Turbe, by Paul Runestad at Trinity Lutheran Church (Stillwater) and Normandale Lutheran Church (Edina)
June: Release of the new CD, Sheer Grace, with crowd-sourced support through a Kickstarter campaign. Repertoire from the 2011 and 2012 seasons: Ola Gjeilo Dark Night of the Soul and The Spheres (Kyrie from "Sun Mass"), Jake Runestad Nada de Turbe, Stephen Paulus I Have Called You By Name and David Cherwien To You Before the Close of Day.
​June-July: Tour to Lutheran Summer Music (Luther College in Decorah IA) & ALCM Conference (Valparaiso University in Valparaiso IN)
October: Joined the Minnesota Chorale and four other choirs in a "season preview" performance at Central Lutheran Church (Minneapolis). Nancy Grundahl conducted.
November: Guest conductor Craig Hella Johnson led All Saints performances at St Andrew's Lutheran Church (Mahtomedi) and St Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church (Wayzata). David Cherwien was on sabbatical. Re-broadcast on MPR of the Bach Mass in b minor.
November: Release of the new CD, Emmanuel, featuring repertoire performed during the 2011 and 2012 Christmas Festivals (Ola Gjeilo Serenity, Stanford Scriven Jesus Christ the Apple Tree, selections from Frank Ferko A Festival of Music, Zachary Wadsworth Gabriel's Message and Rene Clausen Tonight Eternity). 
December: David Cherwien returned from sabbatical to conduct the NLC and the St Anthony Brass, oboe, harp and organ in the Christmas Festival at the Basilica of Saint Mary (Minneapolis) and Christ Church Cathedral (St Louis). Premiere of Kevin Siegfried's Videmus Stellam.
